birthday weekend!

It is now post birthday for me and I am in my 23rd year of life... happy birthday to Sharon (I know you were thinking it)! Gosh, you guys... How in the world do I already have a husband and a TODDLER!!?? what the... not freaking out over here or anything, but seriously, I am one blessed woman! So... you came here because you want to hear about my weekend? Maybe browse over a handful of photos? Alright, here it is:

HANA:

Caleb and I planned to spend Saturday/Sunday in Hana with our dearest of friends, the Markoya's! It was our first camping trip since having Harrison and our first time going to Hana since we moved back last August! sidenote: can't believe we've already been back on island for a year! So even though we had been "planning" this for about a month we packed up the night before and headed out early Saturday to claim our camp spot. After we set everything up we walked down to the Seven Pools and chilled for a couple hours. Harrison loved the cool water and playing with all the rocks, it is so fun to see his curious mind at work. We just hung out around the campsite in the evening, ate tons of food, and played some games.

In the morning Jess and I took a mini hike up the trail that goes to the 200 ft. waterfall. We didn't have time to make it all the way up as the boys were packing up the tents. We just went up enough to reach this Banyan tree, talk, and have a great time while getting our heart rates up. On our way back we noticed how incredibly clear the sky was and that we could see the big island super well! After the guys had everything packed we took off to Homoa but when we got there some rain clouds came in so I didn't pull out my camera. ):

We all had a great time and Harrison did pretty good... we had no clue how he would react to sleeping in a tent and being outside so much but he really liked it! Most things in life are trial and error when it comes to having a one year old. Some things we'll do different next time. (: And obviously this face is saying, "Alright Mom, it's time to go home now!"

When we got back to Paia we stopped and had lunch at Milagro's. I kind of realized that for the past 4 years, at least, I've eaten enchilada's on my birthday... not on purpose! But since I realized it this year I guess it has become a tradition... so yeah, I ordered enchilada's. (: I feel so incredibly blessed to have Caleb and Harrison, Caleb did an amazing job making me feel super special... I love that man! and I love my birthday. (;

Eli + Sariena Maternity

Remember when I posted an "announcement" about how my recently married sister was pregnant? Well, I can't believe it's already July (she's due near the end of the month) and last month I was able to do the maternity photos for them! Here is your little peak into Sariena and Eli's sweet love for each other and how adorable my little sister looks as an expectant mom! They're waiting until the baby is born to announce a name, they're having a boy. I am so excited! I am the one who made my siblings uncle and aunties and now it's my turn to become an auntie. Enjoy the photos and please leave a comment!

Aaron + Kayla Engagement

Hi Everyone!

Well, as you may have heard my brother is engaged! Yes, it's fantastic news and we are all really excited for him and his bride to be, Kayla Marie. I wanted to share with you some photos of this "Proposal Session", at the beginning of it they were boyfriend and girlfriend and by the end of it they were engaged! All photos taken by me: Sharon McLellan and edited by the lovely Grace at Hurtienne Photography.

The Day
February 13th, 2013

The Location
Heritage Gardens, Ia'o Valley

The Purpose:
To surprise Kayla with what she thought was just going to be a couples photo shoot and capture on camera the moment Aaron proposed.

Kayla's Perspective:
Did you know Aaron was going to pop the question? "I was pretty sure Aaron was going to propose (sorry, Aaron!). There were too many things out of the ordinary for something not to happen... He told me to dress nice and showed up with an orchid when he picked me up."
Were you still surprised when he asked? "Yes! I didn't know when he was going to ask and since we were getting our photos taken it took my mind off it... It was perfect."
Do you like the ring? "Yes, I love the ring. I liked it when he first proposed but now I like it even more. Everyday I look at it and think, "It's perfect!" and that it was his Grandma's makes it even more special."

Aaron's Perspective:
How long had you been planning to propose? "I had been planning since November of 2012, but I really started seriously planning after asking her dads permission in December."
What were you thinking of most during that day? "Today is the day I do it!"
What's the sentiment behind the ring: "It belonged to my Grandma, she gave it to before she moved back to the mainland. The fact that she gave me her diamond ring (her engagement ring from my grandfather) had a lot of gravity in it and meant I needed to give it to someone really special."

Harrisaurus turns ONE!

We celebrated Harrison's FIRST BIRTHDAY on the 20th of last month. I planned a small party with close friends and family and we all ate pulled pork sandwiches and watched Harrison open presents and eat a banana cream pie (banana is his favorite, so it seemed appropriate). Here are some photos that Mariah took during the party. (:

yep, reading his b-day cards already.
his reaction to all his presents, "awww! *hug*"

joining in on everyone clapping for him!
chowing down on his personal banana cream pie.

I love this little man and am so blessed to be his momma.
I enjoy every minute and I'm looking forward to year number two!

New Year, New Life, New Beginnings...

Hello and welcome to 2013!

I hope everyone's Christmas was blessed. This was Harrison's 1st Christmas and we all had so much getting him presents and watching him open them. I also took this quick photo of my sister and her husband

Sariena's holding a Christmas present addressed to "Baby Hoffman"
So yeah, I'm going to be an Aunty sometime in July and Harrison will have a little cousin!!! Seems like 2013 will be a very fruitful year and I am ready to face it head on. God has given us goals and visions that we are excited about pursuing. Right now one of those goals is to finish the laundry... It just seems to pile and pile and pile on up... Anyway, speaking of "NEW" do you like my new blog template? I think it's pretty rad. (:

Ok, just wanted to give you a little update on our growing family.

Maui Life

Hello friends!

Let me first start off by saying, "Merry Christmas!" I hope your year has been most enjoyable and you are excited to start with the next one. Safe to say it's been a crazy one for us! Here's an update for you:

1. We are back in Maui! We moved in August... hehe. The original plan was to only come for a visit while my sister, Sariena, was getting married but opportunity arose and we decided to move back. That's the best I can do at explaining because it was done in a way only God could do and He works in crazy ways (as we all know)!

2. We moved (mostly, kind of, sort of) because Caleb got a job offer, he is working for a company called GP Electric. He's an apprentice and will work towards getting his journeyman's license... so he is an electrician. I'm super proud of him!

3. I'm working back at Ruby's... (: you can all laugh at me... I know I may have said over and over before about how I never wanted to be a server again. Ha! Caleb and I realized I needed to go back to work for a short season and God has completely blessed us in that decision. I'm working part time and recently received my liquor license and became a supervisor. We are learning to make wiser financial decisions and setting ourselves up for a brighter future.

4. Harrison is turning 1 in February! I don't know if life seems like it's flying by for you, it definitely feels that way for me! I can't believe I had a child 10 months ago... He is growing way too fast. I'm excited for Harrison's first Christmas, he already has so many presents (currently the only grandson/nephew on both sides of the family) and I don't think he will have any trouble learning how to rip the wrapping paper off.

Well, I think I will leave it at that for now! Thanks for reading this short update. We will see how I do next year with the whole blog thing... (:

xoxo

28.6.12

and the days are flying by...

is it just me or does everybody think it's insane that June is practically over!? I look back on all that I wanted to accomplish this past month and sadly not a lot has been done... I keep thinking, "tomorrow" and then tomorrow turns into "next week." I'm realizing more and more how beneficial it would be to have a little more of a structured schedule. Things were much easier when I didn't have to feed a baby every few hours and make sure he has a few naps throughout the day. Nap times are hard to schedule around, but hey, I can't complain that I now HAVE to nap through out the day.... I mean Harrison has to nap... (;

So I'm getting more and more excited for our trip! It's only two short months away! I'm also super excited for Sariena to get married! It'll be so fun to have a married sibling... then eventually a sibling who's also a mommy! and Harrison is getting another uncle! he doesn't have very many of those. (; I'm trying to think of all the things we want to do while we're there in Maui but I'm predicting a majority of the time will be wedding prep and relaxing with the fam. I know I'm gonna bawl my eyes out when I see my family... I miss them all so much! Yeah, I'll pretty much be a hot mess in the airport...

I'm looking forward to going to Chicago too! I've never been except for when I was on my way to Germany... I spent about two minutes running from gate to gate in O'Hare International Airport. (: There's so many cool things in Chicago... I hope we get to see at least some of them. (: of course we'll be visiting my beautiful sister in law and her hubby. It'll be more time of rest and relaxation!

Well, I better get going... Sorry I didn't really write about anything new. Harrison is getting a bit fussy and keeps spitting up everywhere... so fun being a mommy! ooooh, p.s. I got a new sling from sevensling.com and I absolutely love it! What I like most about it is the convenience and ease of slipping it on and off. Also it's the only thing Harrison will fall asleep in. He only likes the Moby Wrap sometimes and I hate the front carrier we have. ): So, yeah, yay for baby wearing!

xoxo

23.5.12

I can't think of anything enticing to put here...

I'm at Starbucks by myself... yep... by. my. self. It's seriously so weird. Harrison has been extra fussy since Saturday and this afternoon I told Caleb I had to get out for just a little bit. I just texted Caleb and Harrison is sleeping, what a champ. So here I am blogging... I couldn't think of anything else to do. (: We got rid of our internet at home cause we're a bunch of crazies. We decided we could do without the distraction and extra cost of internet/hulu/netflix. We're actually saving a good bit of money. Haha, there's a group of highschoolers at the next table stressing about SAT's. Oh, to be in high school again.

Anyway, I'll let you in on our upcoming plans! So, like I said, in September we'll be heading out to Maui for Sariena's wedding. We bought our tickets last week! They were actually $100 cheaper than we were planning, yay! We're packing up all our belongings and putting it into storage while we're traveling. We leave the 3rd of September and are planning on being out there on Maui for the whole month. After that we head to Chicago to see Erin and Brian (Caleb's sister and her husband) and then it's off to Ohio for another wedding and to see my long lost twin, Alisha!!!! I'm ecstatic to be reunited with her. You can go back and read some of my entries I wrote while in Germany and I guarantee you'll find her name in quite a few of them. (: After about a week in Ohio we're heading to Wisconsin to spend a few weeks with the in laws. I'm super excited to be there in October because it will be absolutely beautiful with the leaves changing. I will be taking SO MANY PHOTOS! Thennnn we're taking the train back to Portland where we will be living. I'm a little anxious for the trip, Harrison will be 7 months and I'm hoping and PRAYING all the traveling will go over smoothly. I will do my best to remain calm and hope he takes my cues. (: pray for us and our sanity/patience.

So for now it's just work, work, work. The cool thing is that summer is tourist season here in Bend and things are really starting to pick up for Caleb at work. During the winter we had to learn to not live on much and now that we're used to that we can put all the extra money he's making into savings for our trip and still live comfortably on what we're used to. make sense? I hope so... I guess you never recover from "pregnant brain".... it just dubs itself "mommy brain." So yeah! That's the plan for now. (: Thanks for reading.

life in april.

so this whole "mom" thing hasn't been half bad. (: Harrison is a pretty great sleeper, has been getting better and faster at nursing, and is the cutest little baby in the world!

I started on his baby book today and I'm excited for how it's going to turn out! hopefully I keep up with it over the next year or two... you know me. (: Here's a photo of Mr. Harrison and how much he's grown over the past 4 weeks!!!!

crazy, huh?

If you're reading this please keep us in prayer! I have decided to stay at home with Harrison and Caleb is going to work his butt off for me to do so. I realize what a gift this is to be here with him and take care of him as best I can. Please pray that Caleb would have enough work to support us and that I would be a better blessing to him in this season. I'm not sure how long it'll last but we decided to give it our best try... We'll also deciding what we will do at the end of the summer. We're ready to move on from Bend and have some weddings that we're supposed to be in this Fall (me in my sister's wedding in September and Caleb in a friends wedding in October). We need to make enough money this summer to fly out to both weddings and pay all the expenses that come along with it. (:

I'm so excited for my sister! She is going to make an unbelievably gorgeous bride! I'm honored to stand next to her and watch her marry the man of her dreams. (: It'll also be her, my brother, and my older sister's first time meeting Harrison... unless Val comes out sometime this summer! very exciting stuff. Anyway, I'll let you be on your way... thanks for visiting!

15.3.12

oh, hello.

If you are reading this, I'm amazed! not because I didn't think you could read... but because it's been SO long since I've updated this thing... I thought you may have forgotten about it. (; cause I almost did.

A lot of my friends have started blogs recently and I figured, "hey! I should update mine so when I follow people they can follow me back." but it's not very enticing when your last post was over a year ago (so sorry). I do realize that you must have some idea what's going on in my life but the blogging world still deserves an update... so let's begin.

ummm.... I'm a mom.
yes. a. MOM.
kind of weird to say that, but it's true.

I found out I was pregnant June 19th of last year, it was Father's day, which I thought was pretty special for Caleb... and a cool day for our dads to find out they'd be grandpa's. To be completely honest my first reaction was that of trepidation. I was scared out of my mind! and God bless my sweet husband... he was ecstatic. We weren't planning on getting pregnant, our sweet baby was a surprise from God. I don't know about you but when God surprises me it's kind of scary at first.

Fast forward (from June 19th) 35 weeks and one day... I'm at the hospital having a baby! Going through labor is without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever been through. But it is also the most rewarding thing to go through all that pain knowing you're about to embrace your beautiful baby. It was a very overwhelming experience both physically, emotionally, and also mentally. I can't even describe to you what it's like, you just have to see for yourself.

So now I'm a mother to the most precious baby boy! It's really hard at times but always a joy. (: he's just so stinkin' cute, I can't get over it! Anyway, I think I'll try and keep this thing updated a little more often. I'll do my best not to just chatter on and on about "mom" things... but no promises. (; thanks for reading!

consider yourself... updated.

Hello dear friends, i figured it was time to give a good update... i can't promise that this will be a long one but i'll try my best. (:

Caleb and I made it safely to Oregon on the 8th of December. We enjoyed our Christmas up here together, it was fun. Caleb was able to help out with the Christmas music for the church we started going to and I was asked to sing a song. The people here are pretty nice, but kind of a different mentality than Maui... but i guess that's just the mainland in general. (;

We're having fun... Caleb's going up to Seattle today to get our truck. Please pray for his safety as he and our friend Gene are going over the snowy pass. It can be pretty dangerous this time of year. Above is a photo of us when we went to get the mail... and below is a photo of the house our friends are renting (we're splitting the rent), our room is the top left window. (: it's pretty cozy. More photo's will come soon, probably not a ton on here but you can check my facebook.
We've applied at some placed for jobs so we're just waiting to hear back... Mostly we've just been enjoying spending time together and with our good friends the Way's. We don't have much but it's nice to be living simply... hehe. God has been so good and we are so appreciative of all your prayers. <3

Revelation 21:22-27

And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.
And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God
gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. By its light will the nations walk,
and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it,
and its gates will never be shut by day—
and there will be no night there. They will bring into it glory and the honor of the nations.
But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable
or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of Life.

Inspiration for something Inspiring.

hello loved ones! I need your help.

As you all most likely know I am an avid photographer. Especially as of lately... (: so, with that said, I'm expanding my photographic experience. This coming weekend I have 3 photo shoot's that I am doing and I'm hoping these three will jump start my creativity into a field I want to pursue. So I have two favors to ask those of you who are reading this.

Would you please keep me in prayer as I'm trying to develop my talent and mature in my passion for this field... and would you possibly give me suggestions for a killer name?

When I first wanted to become a "photographer" about 6 or so years ago I named my photography, "Eleos Photography." Eleos is the Greek word for compassion. So I still like that name but I'm not sure if that's what I want. I would love to hear some of your suggestions... trying to steer clear of "Sharon McLellan Photography" or something along those lines. Anyway, the reason I'm asking is because I want to start a photo blog and tell you all about my photographic journeys. (: I will name the blog the name I choose. Thanks for your help/interest! Here's a link to ma' flickrrrr.

8.9.10

day off!

hello.

well, today i had the day off... and surprise, surprise, i woke up sick. ): sore throat, head congestion, and runny nose. fun. fun. fun. anyways, i decided to come to church tonight cause i hate being at home all alone at night. i scare myself sometimes, my mind gets the best of me. so i'm at church right now listening to Caleb practice worship with the band. But a lot has been going on lately and i wanted to update all of you on these changes! sound exciting? keep reading...

late last month my parents called all of us to the house for a "family meeting." my dad sat us all down and began to tell us that for the past few weeks they had been praying over an amazing opportunity. Our current Pastor, Dominic Done, has been accepted to go to Oxford, England (where he's from) to continue his education and studies in theology. It's an incredible opportunity for him! So with much prayer and consideration Pastor Dominic asked my dad to step up as the new pastor. My dad is currently the worship pastor and one of the elders at the church, we as a family have been serving at Calvary Chapel South Maui for about 6 years. It's soooo exciting! My mom has always said that she's known that my father is called to be a pastor... we just never knew in what timing it would all come about. of course, my dad won't be continuing as the worship leader but over the past year God has been preparing Caleb to step up and fill the position. craziness. so now i'm married to the worship leader. (: and my dad is the Pastor! hehe.

please keep my family and the body of Christ in your prayers through this transition. It's an amazing time that I know God has complete control over but when God sees something as good the enemy wants to taint and stir up commotion. So just pray that love and understanding would fill the body and everything would transition smoothly.

you can go to the church website here to hear Pastor Dom's message: calvarymaui.com

25.8.10

i love life.

hello blogging world!

so sorry it has been awhile since my last post. I don't have internet at my house for the time being and I don't like updating my blog from my phone (it never turns out how i like). sooo yeah.

First things first... Caleb and I hit our one year anniversary!!! hooray! the year went by ridiculously fast, it was cwazy. we've had so much fun and we're looking forward to many many many more happy years to come. it seems like for now we're going to be here in Maui for a bit. I have no idea how long that is... til further notice, i guess. BUT WE'RE NOT GETTING A PUPPY! ): *sniff*

So I feel we have finally figured out who we are as a couple! Not completely obviously... I'm simply talking about the tiny department of home decor. We repainted our house to a nice light gray color that looks awesome! it is very tranquil, and easy on the eyes... and super fun to decorate around. We finally picked out photo's to print up and put them in frames, and at the moment we're rearranging our rooms getting them into the exact way we want them. I love change so it's fun decorating and making our home even more so our own. (:

anyways, I don't want to make this too lengthy. i love you all! thanks for reading.

10.7.10

20 years.

hello blogging world! well, despite my hope of wanting to update more than once a month, it has been over a month since my last post. ): but i'm here again to tell all that you've missed in the life of the McLellan's.

if someone out there who read my last post prayed for work to pick up I say, "bless your soul!" just in this past week/ the last week of June I think I've worked more than I had all month. So many more condo's almost everyday, it's awesome!

I turned 20 on the 7th! Happy Birthday to Meeee... (: it was a good day. Caleb surprised me by taking the day off for both of us. He made me breakfast in bed and also bought me a birthday starbucks. He's such a good husband! the most amazing actually. Then we just spent the day together, we went into town and had a good time. As you may or may not know I share my birthday with my Papa! it's great fun... this year we decided to celebrate (on the 9th) by going out to a nice dinner, me+dad+significant others. oh, and our birthday was on the 7th which was a wednesday which is our midweek service... so that night at church the congregation sang us "happy birthday" and there was a huge costco cake to eat.

My Dad is going to be teaching every Wednesday for the month of July, so Caleb will be leading worship every week. Caleb will also be watching over our college group this month. The guy who is in charge, Joey Markoya, is getting married on the 17th to my amazing friend, Jesse. So they're getting married in Oregon which is where he's from and won't be back 'til the end of the month. whew. Which brings me to my next paragraph...

I'm going to OREGON! woohoo! except, Caleb's not going. ): I am indeed a bridesmaid in the Markoya wedding! I'm really excited cause I really like the Portland area of Oregon and that's where I'll be. (: I'll be gone for a week and i will miss Caleb with all my heart. But he's going to get some stuff done around the house so i'm really excited to see what it looks like when I get back. (It's somewhat of a surprise!) Anyways, sorry I'm so long winded right now, I better wrap this up. (:

Goodnight!

6.6.10

60th post.

so I've had this blog for a while now and I'm only on my 60th post. I'm so horrible at updating! but here we go...

My "new" job has been going well... we're coming into the slow tourist season here and, since I clean vacation condo's, work is slowing down. So if you're reading this just pray that it would pick up soon and that we would be able to continue full time work. The good thing is that we don't need to worry... cause God is in complete control. I completely believe that but it's interesting to go through seasons when you are truly tested in those beliefs. God's purpose is always that we come out stronger yet more dependable on Him. (: He's so good to us!

Umm, after growing out my hair for two years I chopped most of it off. It now falls right around my shoulders. lots of layers. and bangs. and OH MY GOSH! I missed having short hair! But I am proud of myself for having long hair for a significant amount of time. So here's a photo for you... I tried to take it in secret so it looks a little funny. Next time I think I'll go a little shorter. (;

I'm trying to prioritize my time a little better. It feels good, cause just by doing that (being organized) I accomplish so much more. My mind is clear and I know what I need to do and how much time I have to do it before I move on to the next thing. It's been really good... Married life is really different than I thought it would be. I know it may come naturally for some people, but I thought when we got married and lived in our own place it would be really easy to keep every thing clean and organized. I would be more on top of the house cause it was mine and everything in it belonged to us... but that wasn't the case exactly. haha. So now I'm learning to keep the house in a state of cleanliness and tidiness. It's not perfect, but that's okay, it's home... at least it's not a state of chaos-ness.

I'm going to be in Oregon this summer for my friend Jesse's wedding. I talked about her in my last entry. She got engaged in the middle of April and has the date set for July 17th. It's been really fun around here lately. Another friend is getting married over here in a couple weeks. So we're having a couple showers and all that business. Right now I'm planning Jesse's bridal shower and it's a ton of fun. I think... maybe... someday... I might like to be a wedding planner or have a party planning business. If I could take the stress. but so far no stress with this party so it's all good! I just think it would be a blast to plan all these parties and make them all different and have themes and transform everyone's ideas of a "typical party". Just a thought. For right now I'm having fun planning it with the new organized me.

Anyways, I think that's enough for now. So until next time! hopefully it won't be in a couple months. (;

31.3.10

it is time.

Today is my day off. It' been a delightful day off so far. I got up and spent the morning in a new coffee shop where the coffee was so hot it burned my tongue! but the mocha i had was quite delicious... sidenote: for some odd reason i have the urge to spell delicious like delishus. don't ask me why.

I was blessed with the opportunity to spend a majority of the morning with Jesse Van Kirk. It's always so good to hang out with old friends. I've known Jesse for about three years now and it's so cool to see how much we both have grown yet still remain good friends. Especially just with the point that we are at in our lives. There's so much change going on, people are moving on, getting married, having kids... it's crazy. But i enjoy the ride.

I always feel like I have nothing to update on! haha, but i realize that there are people out there who just want to know what's going on, especially since i'm so so so horrible at keeping in touch. So this is what's "new," I quit my job at the Diner. (woohoo!) Just time to move on I guess. I didn't feel like I had a career as a waitress in my future so it wasn't hard to "let go." It's been a good job on and off over the past two years, I've enjoyed the experience and knowledge I've gained and I will miss all my friends/co-workers.... I won't even begin on the list of things I WON'T miss. hehe. (; So now you may be asking, "are you unemployed? do you have another job lined up?" and, i do! I now work for a good friend of mine and we clean condo's! I enjoy it so much, which sounds silly cause I'm not a very neat and tidy type of person. But i feel it's a very satisfying experience to go into a condo that a tourist has totally thrashed and turn it around into a sparkling clean suite ready for the next guest in merely hours! And you get to fold the towels all fancy so it's fun. There's still room for improvement; i'm learning... but i hope to learn the in's and out's real fast and become a great asset. (:

19.2.10

twenty-ten.

whew. so now we greet a new year. craziness. 2009 was full of so many new adventures, i'm really excited to see what God has in store this year.

i suddenly had an urge to blog. i think it's cause i like the nostalgic feel it gives me... and the postal service just came on over the radio so i couldn't resist the urge.

life is the same old thing, Caleb and I are working lotsss. still getting settled into our place. piecing together one room at a time. I really feel like it's starting to become home. We started painting, so that's super fun! the photo is what we've finished so far... (:

anyways, i have to get back to work...

p.s.
today i saw some tourists taking photo's of themselves hugging palm trees. hahaha.
